3 September, 2026
Information on what is happening in September.
Thursday, September 10th - Candlelight Service of Remembrance - this is held at the Field of Honour in Brookside Cemetery, Notre Dame Avenue starting at 1900hrs (see attached flyer). Military and Civic dignitaries and the RCAF band will be in attendance. Each of the 11,000+ headstones will have an electronic 'tea light' candle placed on them so as sunset progresses they will come into prominence. Recommended parking is at Red River College on Notre Dame Avenue and there will a shuttle bus to/from the site before and after the event. Tuesday, September 15th - the first meeting of the new business year. 1330hrs in the Boardroom of Anavets 283, 3584 Portage Avenue if your memory needs a 'nudge.'
Sunday, September 20th - Battle of Britain Sunday - as is customary we have been invited to attend the 17 Wing annual memorial at The Garden of Memories, on Air Force Way, at 1000hrs. We will have 10 reserved seats so it would be nice to see more than the usual five 'suspects' in attendance.

2026 Membership renewal from $35 to $40
After many years, our costs have risen to a point where we now can no longer cover our costs and regretfully, we have made the decision to raise our Membership Dues.
This decision has not been made easily nor without significant discussion. Security requirements for access to 17 Wing and base decisions that we pay for any staff required (bar tender) and costs for room rental, which was previously complimentary, are no longer.
Other locations may also require room rentals (ANAVETS for eg.). And as we all know, our food/snack costs are increasing as well along with banking costs. Thank you for your understanding
