Martin Zellig will present the story of Photo Journalist Louis Slotin
On 14 Sep 23, the Royal Military Institute of Manitoba membership were privileged to watch a 48-minute excellent documentary on Dr. Louis Slotin, a north-end Winnipegger who worked on the Manhattan (atomic bomb) Project during the Second World War.
This 1998 film, on which guest speaker Martin Zeleg had worked, complemented the “Oppenheimer” feature-length movie in theatres recently. The documentary, viewed by over 30 attendees at the Officers’ Mess at CFB Winnipeg, discussed Slotin’s life from his early upbringing to his death by radiation poisoning in 1946.
A question and answer period plus coffee and snacks completed the evening.
